Offer Description: Standard competitive selection procedure for the conclusion of a fixed-term employment contract, with a view to filling 1 (one) post, to carry out duties corresponding to the category of Senior Technician (Biology). In accordance with the provisions of Article 48(e) of Law No. 24/2012 of 9 July (Framework Law on Foundations) and for the purposes of the provisions of Article 30(4) and Article 33 of the General Law on Labour in the Public Sector (LTFP), approved by Law No. 35/2014 of 20 June, and Article 19(1) of Government Council Resolution No. 178/2009 of 24 November, republished by Rectification Declaration No. 14/2009 of 2 December, it is hereby made public that, by decision of 12 October 2026 of the Chair of the Governing Board of the Gaspar Frutuoso FP Foundation, a public foundation governed by private law, a standard competitive selection procedure is now open for a fixed-term employment contract, for a period of twelve months, which may be extended, pursuant to Article 140(2)(h) of the Labour Code, provided that it does not exceed the duration of the research project co-funding it, with a view to filling a post in the career stream and category of Senior Technician (graduate in Biology). The contract forms part of the research project “NUI-PLASTIC: Impact of marine plastic litter on the establishment and dispersal of harmful species in Portuguese coastal ecosystems”, reference COMPETE2030-FEDER-00734200, co-funded by the Innovation and Digital Transition Programme (COMPETE2030) under its ERDF component and by the RAA through the PRO-SCIENTIA Incentive Scheme under reference M2.2.A/COFUND PFE/013/2025. 1 – Applicable legislation: Framework Law on Foundations, adopted by Law No. 24/2012 of 9 July; General Labour Law for the Public Sector (LTFP), approved as an annex to Law No. 35/2014 of 20 June; Labour Code, approved by Law No. 7/2009 of 12 February, as currently in force; Government Council Resolution No. 178/2009 of 24 November, republished by Rectification Declaration No. 14/2009 of 2 December, in all the versions currently in force. 2 – Guarantee of equality between men and women – Provision referred to in Joint Order No. 373/2000 of 1 March: “In accordance with Article 9(h) of the Constitution, the Public Administration, as an employer, actively promotes a policy of equal opportunities between men and women in access to employment and career progression, taking scrupulous care to prevent any and all forms of discrimination”. 3 – Place of work: at the premises of the Faculty of Science and Technology, scientific complex, situated on the Ponta Delgada University Campus, 9500-321 Ponta Delgada. 4 – Job description: the duties to be performed correspond to level 3 of functional complexity, in accordance with Article 86(1)(c) of the LTFP, for which a bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement. 4.1 – The employee will carry out duties at the level of Senior Technician, under the scientific supervision of Dr Manuela I. Parente, and will have the following specific duties: i) Collection, sorting and preservation of biological samples, and collection and sorting of plastics; ii) DNA extraction and amplification, electrophoresis and preparation of extracts for dispatch; iii) Taxonomic identification of marine organisms; iv) Organisation of seminars, drafting of scientific articles and dissemination and project reports; 4.2 – The contract shall be valid for twelve months, subject to possible extension; under no circumstances shall the contract remain in force beyond the period necessary for the execution of the project, which fully co-finances the costs associated with this contract. 5 – Scope of recruitment: Recruitment shall be carried out in accordance with Article 30(4) of the LTFP, and is open to workers with or without an employment contract, through a competitive selection process. 6 – Pay grade: The pay grade of the recruited employee shall correspond to the first pay grade of the Senior Technicia
