Offer Description: The University of Alcalá (UAH) invites applications for one full-time Predoctoral Researcher position associated with the research project PID2025-168219NB-I00, entitled "Advanced Chiral Systems in Electrokinetic Chromatography and Integration of Chiral and Metabolomic Strategies for the Characterisation of Biological Systems". The position is funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigación, AEI) under the 2025 call for Knowledge Generation Projects and associated predoctoral research training activities, within the Spanish State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024-2027. The successful candidate will join the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Alcalá and conduct research under the supervision of Dr María Castro Puyana and Dr María Luisa Marina. The research will focus on chiral analysis and metabolomics, particularly the identification and characterisation of biomarkers in biological systems. Main research activities: Design, preparation, characterisation and evaluation of novel supramolecular deep eutectic solvents (SUPRADES) as chiral selectors in electrokinetic chromatography (EKC), with the aim of developing innovative stereoselective methodologies for the enantiomeric separation of compounds of pharmaceutical, bioanalytical and agrochemical interest. Development of untargeted metabolomics platforms for biomarker discovery. Development of chiral and non-chiral analytical strategies for the quantification of metabolites identified as potential biomarkers.
