Students enrolled in doctorate 3.2. Select an option Physical Engineering 4. Other Requirements: • Relevant academic background in the scientific field; • Demonstrated knowledge in the processing of ceramic materials and laser processing of ceramic surfaces including analysis as a function of fluence and scanning geometry; • Knowledge of advanced characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, optical spectroscopy (e.g. absorption/reflectance, PL, Raman spectroscopy), profilometry, contact angle determination, among others relevant to the process of analyzing surfaces modified by laser; • Experience in the development of ceramic materials with persistent luminescence, their functionalization through laser technology and their respective advanced characterization; • Excellent spoken and written command of the Portuguese language; • Experience in industry or in R&D projects with industry (preparation of reports, dissemination and dissemination of results);• Good interpersonal skills, communication skills, creativity, team spirit and proactive approach. 5. Eligibility: Applicants are eligible if they comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2, of the Research Fellow Statute in the wording given by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th, and also the provisions of article 9 of the Scientific Research Grant Regulations of the University of Aveiro. 6. Work plan: This work aims to support the activities of the ReviMax project, specifically in the development of ceramic materials with persistent luminescence, their functionalization and characterization, with the objective of demonstrating proof of concept for subsequent industrial implementation. The tasks to be performed include: I. Survey of the state-of-the-art regarding the functionalization of ceramics using luminescent additives/pigments to obtain persistent luminescence (PersL); II. Selection of the most promising elements for PersL according to the specific application; III. Identification and specification of critical variables for the processing and functionalization of ceramic parts for PersL, to obtain the desired properties; IV. Exploration of methods for incorporating additives/pigments for PersL and their characterization; V. Selection and optimization of additives/pigments and methods with higher performance; VI. Support for testing the interaction of laser radiation with luminescent elements and ceramic parts; VII. Characterize the materials developed by different techniques after incorporating luminescent elements and analyze their viability; VIII. Preparation and presentation of technical reports and scientific documents relating to the results obtained. 7. Applicable legislation and regulations: Research Fellow Statute, as amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of August 28th; Scientific Research Grant Regulation of the University of Aveiro, Regulation No. 292/2020, published in Diário da República No. 61, Series II, of March 26th; Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions). 8. Workplace: The work will be carried out at i3N and Physics Department of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Professor/Doctor Nuno Ferreira. 9.
