You have: Valid manual driving license (Category A), with the ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle in the field, following safety guidelines (desirable). Physically fit to perform demanding tasks in field conditions. One year experience and work history of working in a physically arduous work environment, such as previous HMA field experience, field farming or agricultural environment, or other similar physically demanding work environment. Ability to read and write basic Arabic – Syrian Primary School level required, Secondary School level desirable. Fluency in speaking in Arabic language. Contract This is a DRC - National contract. DRC Syria takes an area-based approach to supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and host communities across our key sectors: Economic Recovery and Resilience, Protection, WASH, Shelter and Infrastructure, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (including Humanitarian Mine Action). With an established rapid response mechanism, DRC can rapidly respond to emerging crises and shocks to meet acute emergency needs . Recognizing the significant need for early recovery and resilience programming to ensure dignified, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for fragile communities, DRC’s programmes foster resilience for individuals and communities in situations of protracted displacement and during the initial stages of post-conflict recovery, towards a durable solution of their choice . Overall purpose of the role : The Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) Team Member will be based in Aleppo but may be required to deploy to other areas of Syria to respond to emergency tasks or as the programme Area of Operations expands. The team member is responsible for performing all assigned HMA tasks within their respective team, based on their training and qualifications and assigned by the Team Leader and Technical Field Manager. This includes EOD, BAC, MMC and any other task assigned to them by the Team Leader or Technical Field Manager. Strict adherence to safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is required to ensure the secure and effective implementation of humanitarian mine action activities. The role involves working under direct supervision and monitoring of the Team Leader and closely working with other members of the team and local authorities to facilitate safe and efficient operations. Responsibilities and Tasks: 1. Operational duties Conduct assigned HMA activities safely and in accordance with DRC SOPs and task instructions. Support EOD, BAC, MMC and related activities according to training and authorization. Follow directions from the Team Leader and report progress, issues or incidents promptly.
