You have: University degree (Bachelor's degree) or above in medicine, public health, epidemiology, communicable diseases, or other related health fields. A minimum of two years relevant work experience supporting public health programmes, including epidemic or emergency preparedness and response activities, at the provincial or national level. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Chinese. Knowledge of the profiles of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in the country, and the principles and programmes of epidemic and emergency preparedness and response. Knowledge of the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and their implementation. Proven record of analytical skills. Ability to develop plans, strategies and proposals, draft policy analysis and prepare documentation and reports in a concise and accurate manner. Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct. Ability to demonstrate gender equity and cultural appropriateness in the delivery of services to Member States. Contract This is a NO-B contract. AI Application Assistant Details OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in China supports the Government of China in strengthening national health security, emergency preparedness and response, and communicable disease prevention and control, in alignment with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and the WHO Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW 13). Under the China-WHO Country Cooperation Strategy, Strategic Objective 1—Promote the implementation of Healthy China 2030 and the achievement of universal health coverage—identifies Strengthening the public health system and improving health security as a key focus. This includes strengthening capacities for health security monitoring, early warning, assessment and emergency response to public health emergencies; improving epidemic prevention and control mechanisms; and reinforcing the prevention and control of infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis and other major communicable diseases. The Programme also contributes to Strategic Objective 2—Work together to promote global health and build a global community of health for all—by supporting China's engagement in global health security, South South cooperation, and the provision of global public goods for health. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES Under the supervision of the National Technical Officer on Disease Control in WHO Country Office in China, the incumbent will work in coordination with all technical focal points at regional and headquarters levels, will provide technical support and advice to the WHO China on health emergency and communicable diseases, as well as to deliver key technical products and to organize events. More specifically, the incumbent shall be responsible for the following: 1.Technically support the concerted approach of WHO in the areas of Emergency Risk Management, Country Preparedness and International Health Regulations, Risk & Situation Assessments, and Infectious Hazards Management. 2.Utilize national insights to collaborate with and support relevant ministries and other stakeholders to undertake gap analyses in relevant areas of work for emergency preparedness and management, and support the improvement of national strategies and a national multi hazard, health emergency preparedness and response plan. 3.Support the assessment of capacities and national competency develo
