Skip to main content Back to search results Teaching Fellow in Technical Language and Academic Skills Queen Mary University of London - School of Physical and Chemical Sciences Location: Hainan - China, London Salary: £44,288 to £51,755 per annum Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract Placed On: 27th August 2026 Closes: 10th September 2026 Job Ref: 11081 About the Role We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Technical Language and Academic Skills who will join Queen Mary School Hainan (QMSH), Queen Mary’s transnational education partnership in Hainan Province, China. The postholder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching through teaching and the assessment of student achievement, supporting students, designing modules and their assessment, and relevant administrative tasks. This post is based in London, and the postholder will be required to travel to China to deliver teaching for two periods of approximately 6-8 weeks, once per semester, as allocated by the Director of QMSH. About You Applicants should have: experience of educational delivery at undergraduate level in Higher Education and an interest in curriculum development, novel pedagogies and inclusive education. a proven track record of excellent education delivery of Technical Language and Academic Skills, ideally with experience of Transnational Education, a commitment to providing a high-quality student experience. About the School School of Physical and Chemical Sciences is a large, multidisciplinary and research-intensive school within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. While it is built around the core disciplines of Physics, Astronomy, and Chemistry, it also incorporates data science, reflecting a growing emphasis on computational and data-driven approaches across science. SPCS has a diverse and active community, with over 900 undergraduate students, more than 100 postgraduate taught students, around 115 postgraduate researchers, and approximately 150 academic and professional staff. It fosters a highly collaborative culture, working across faculties and with industry partners and external stakeholders. SPCS is primarily based at the Mile End campus that includes advanced laboratories, workshops, shared study and social spaces. Teaching is also delivered at the London City Institute of Technology and internationally in partnership with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) in Hainan, China.
