Skip to main content Back to search results Operations and Administration Officer De Montfort University - Technical Services Team Location: Leicester Salary: £32,080 to £38,784 Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Permanent Placed On: 27th August 2026 Closes: 9th September 2026 Job Ref: 648 Job Location: Gateway House Employee Weekly Hours: 37.00 Job Description: Main duties and responsibilities The Operations and Administrative Officer role will provide specialist operational, administrative and analytical support to the Head of Technical Services (HTS) in running the centralised Technical Services team. The role will support the HTS to deliver effective and efficient technical services for teaching and research and will undertake senior level administrative and operational support for Technical Services. This will include the efficient coordination of work relating to maintenance, compliance, procurement, asset management, budget management, analysis of data, assisting with risk register and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) upkeep and submissions, continuous improvement and help to coordinate activities with internal and external stakeholders. This role will provide high-level administrative support to the HTS and Associate Pro Vice Chancellor Education (APVC Education) as well as the Technical Services team, and the role will also support the coordination of Technician Commitment activities. Main duties and responsibilities: Support the operations and administration of Technical Services; overseeing the team’s internal and external websites/ SharePoint pages. Working across Technical Services and supporting Technical Services Managers with making efficiencies to forge new ways of working e.g. booking processes. Coordinating compliance, maintenance, procurement and asset management records in collaboration with the Resource Centre. Developing new operational processes to enhance Technical Services e.g. leave and workload planners etc. Supporting the HTS with the work towards the Technician Commitment at DMU; providing operational support to the Technician Development & Advancement Board (TDA). Monitoring technical budgets and analysing data to identify trends in spending. Leading on event planning for Technician Away Days and Technician Commitment events. We are looking for a proactive individual with: A degree, or substantial relevant experience. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. A continuous improvement focused approach with evidence of enhancing processes within the workplace. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, academic colleagues and external stakeholders. A commitment to health and safety and delivering high-quality technical support. An understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection. Willingness to learn and commitment to professional development. Team player, and willingness to support open days. Experience of working within higher education and an understanding of Technical Services would be advantageous.
