Skip to main content Back to search results Visiting Lecturer in Criminology University of Roehampton - School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Location: Roehampton Salary: £57.52 Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Permanent Placed On: 28th August 2026 Closes: 11th September 2026 The University of Roehampton is seeking to appoint a Visiting Lecturer to assist our Criminology team to cover for a staff absence during the first four weeks of the Autumn Term’s provision in the area of in the area of Cyber and Internet Crime, and Digital Forensics. The appointment will involve following preplanned teaching and lab activity, although the enrichment of delivery though personal expertise, professional experience and/or research will be important, too. The modules concerned are: Level 5: SOCN241 Internet Investigation Level 6: CRMX249 Cybercrime An outline of SOCN241 can be seen under the Year 2 tab of the course web page, www.roehampton.ac.uk/study/undergraduate-courses/criminology-with-digital-forensics . The third-year module, CRMX249, offers legacy content required for the teach-out of a previous iteration of the course and can be seen here bit.ly/CRMX249_Cybercrime . The dates involved are notionally to be the first four weeks of term, between 28 th Sept and 23 rd Oct, but some flexibility may be necessary. Teaching for the modules will be confined within one day per week each (currently Monday and Friday), with overall slots of 5 hrs (for SOCN241) or 4 hrs (for CRMX249), including breaks. As noted above, outlines and resources are available for the majority of the teaching to be covered. We encourage a blended learning approach to teaching, combining traditional lectures, seminars, class exercises, practical and lab sessions involving both individual and group tasks. We emphasise employability and skill-led experiential learning and active student support. Successful applicants should preferably have a PhD in a relevant area and some professional background, as well as experience of the HE teaching approaches noted above. We are seeking individuals who are student focused, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; and can work flexibly. The rate of pay for Visiting Lecturers is £57.52 per hour. This rate includes: contact time, preparation, marking, and annual leave. Additional marking and moderation and content development is paid at the rate of £27.32 per hour.
