Organizational Context and Scope IOM Mexico plays a leading technical role on internal displacement, supporting the Government of Mexico in strengthening legal frameworks, public policies, and institutional capacities to prevent, respond to, and identify durable solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs). Through pioneering research, evidence generation, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives at the federal, state, and municipal levels, the Organization has contributed to increasing the visibility and understanding of internal displacement dynamics in the country while promoting multisectoral responses grounded in human rights, gender equality, and inclusion. IOM Mexico also co-leads inter-agency coordination efforts on internal displacement, advances protection mechanisms for affected populations, and provides technical support to authorities in the development of tools, protocols, referral pathways, and prevention strategies aimed at reducing displacement risks and ensuring the protection of affected communities. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the IDP Protection Project Associate, the Project Associate (Internal Displacement) will be responsible for carrying out the following activities: Qualifications Required Qualifications and Experience Education Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Human Rights, Development Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Economics, Social Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; Master’s degree in Human Rights, Development or related fields is an advantage. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience Experience supporting projects related to internal displacement, migration, protection, humanitarian assistance, human rights, peacebuilding or development programming. Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, civil society organizations and United Nations agencies. Experience organizing workshops, consultations, training sessions and multi-stakeholder meetings. Experience drafting reports, technical documents, presentations and information products. Experience supporting monitoring, data collection, assessments, research and reporting activities. Experience working with vulnerable populations, including internally displaced persons, migrants, refugees or other populations in situations of vulnerability. Previous experience with international organizations, government institutions or civil society organizations in a multicultural environment is an advantage. Knowledge of durable solutions approaches, protection principles and community-based programming is desirable. Skills Knowledge of project implementation, monitoring and reporting processes.
