Colleagues.org Details OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME WHO supports the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho in implementing key programmes that require availability of timely and quality information to inform planning and decision making and to contribute to regional and global key performance indicators for meeting, inter alia, the following objectives:National health information system: improved quality, completeness, timeliness and integrated data from the three levels of the country's health organisational structure.Health emergencies programme: enhanced capacity for timely and accurate collection, and analysis of data for effective management of epidemics and other public health emergencies.Data quality: Enhanced data quality systems at all levels through institutionalised mechanisms for data validation, data audits and reviews, while observing national policies and protocols and protocols.Building national capacities: Strengthened national capacities (community, facility, district and national levels) in data management including advanced data analysis using different data management software - STATA, GIS, and others.Production of data analytics: Established situational rooms in strategic offices at WHO- Lesotho, Ministry of Health head office, district health management teams with access to updated dashboards and visual displays to guide monitoring and decision-making.Human resources for health: Fast-tracked the institutionalisation and annual updating of the National Health Workforce Accounts that integrates workforce data from other One Health sectors. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES The will support the Ministry of Health and stakeholders in addressing and fulfilling the following:I. Health information and surveillance systema. Support the One Health Sectors in Lesotho under the leadership of the Ministry of Health in strengthening the health information systems at the national and district levels maximising on the use of District Health Information System (DHIS2), Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR), Electronic Register (eRegister).b. Support integration of programme data systems and enhance interoperability of the systems within and across sectors.c. Support integration/linkage of disease surveillance and climate change surveillance/data d. Enhance the use of case-based reporting under IDSR.e. Generate regular (at least monthly) routine immunisation data and analyse the data for sharing with different administrative levels and relevant stakeholders.II.Supporting outbreak detection and responsea. Support efforts for building capacities of rapid response teams in developing and using data collection tools during investigation and response to outbreaks.b. Support real-time data management during outbreaks and development of dashboards for sharing with different teams and relevant stakeholders.c. Support outbreak response teams in developing situational reports.III. Data reporting, analysis generation of dashboardsa. Support statistical and epidemiological analysis of programmes and emergency events.b. Support production of dashboards, data visualisations guided by the use of DHIS2 and other tools recommended by WHO.c. Contribute in the production of regular public health bulletins. IV. Data quality and capacity buildinga. Support the ministry in training Programme Managers, District Health Teams and Data Clerks on data management.b. Provide supportive supervision and mentorship to programmes, districts and health facility staff on data management, data quality audits, assessments and reviews.V. Fostering coordination and partnerships in data REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education Essential : First university degree in Public Health; Epidemiology; Statistics/Data Science; Health Information Systems Social Sciences, from an accredited/recognized institute. Desirable : An advanced university degree in health Public Health; Epidemiology; Biostatistics/Data Science; Health Information Systems. Experience Essential : At least two years related experience in public health and/or managing health related data. Desirable : Experience in working with any UN agency or public health programmes outside government.
