GENERAL INFORMATION JOB TITLE: Programme Officer TYPE OF CONTRACT/LEVEL: Fixed Term NOB SUPERVISOR: Head of Programme UNIT/DIVISION: Field Operations DUTY STATION (City, Country): Marib, Yemen DURATION: 12 Months BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: WFP operations across Yemen are conducted in a highly complex, volatile, and high-risk operating environment. Protracted conflict, severe economic deterioration, currency instability, climate-related shocks, and constrained access to essential services continue to drive widespread humanitarian needs. Within these areas, approximately one in two people experience acute food insecurity, as declining household purchasing power, high inflation, and heavily disrupted livelihoods leave millions unable to meet their basic food needs. The humanitarian situation remains critical through the end of 2026. Data indicates that 5.4 million people are experiencing IPC Phase 3 or above (Crisis or worse) acute food insecurity between June and September 2026, with 1.6 million individuals pushed into IPC Phase 4 (Emergency). Despite the onset of the harvest season, these urgent needs are projected to persist and deepen in severity from October to December 2026, with the population in IPC Phase 3 or above remaining at a staggering 5.4 million people. JOB PURPOSE To deliver high-quality, accountable, and risk-informed assistance under these protracted emergency conditions, the Marib Field Office requires a dedicated National Programme Officer (NOB). The purpose of this role is to provide operational middle-management leadership, drive programme compliance, actively manage partner field performance, and ensure the efficient execution of WFP's lifesaving emergency safety nets and integrated nutrition tracks. The incumbent will be responsible for leading field-level programme activities, providing direct technical support to partners, and ensuring that all operations achieve WFP’s strategic and policy objectives through close collaboration with internal units and external humanitarian stakeholders. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES): Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme, the National Programme Officer (NOB) will lead and execute the following core field accountabilities: 1. Operational Programme Management & Modality Execution. Manage and supervise the day-to-day implementation of emergency food assistance, nutrition interventions, livelihoods, school feeding, and shock-responsive safety net programs under the Marib Field Office footprint, ensuring all deliveries align with the approved Field Office Operational Plan.
