Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Health and Nutrition, including WASH, the Immunization Cold Chain and Logistics Specialist will provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen vaccine supply chain systems, cold chain management, and logistics performance in the Union of the Comoros. The incumbent will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Immunization Supply Chain (ISC) management, ensuring alignment with the recommendations of the Effective Vaccine Management (EVM 2.0) assessment, the national Continuous Improvement Plan (cIP), the Immunization Supply Chain Strategy, Thrive360, and Gavi 6.0 priorities. Working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), UNICEF Supply Division, and key immunization partners, the Specialist will contribute to strengthening end-to-end vaccine supply chain performance through enhanced Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) practices, improved vaccine forecasting and stock management, efficient vaccine distribution systems, strengthened cold chain equipment management and maintenance, and the effective use of logistics information systems. The Specialist will also support capacity development at all levels of the health system and strengthen coordination through functional National Logistics Working Groups (NLWGs). In addition, the Specialist will support the institutionalization of evidence-based decision-making, strengthen supply chain governance mechanisms, promote the digitalization of logistics systems, and contribute to building a resilient, efficient, sustainable, and equitable immunization supply chain capable of ensuring the continuous availability of potent vaccines for all populations, including those living in remote and hard-to-reach communities across the three islands of the Union of the Comoros.
