APIs are becoming a requirement for businesses that wish to reach a wide customer base.
Organisations across all industry sectors (e.g. TSO, Guardian, Sears, Tesco) are waking up to
this challenge and investing large sums into building their own API platforms. But most of the
companies that could benefit from APIs cannot handle the technical complexity and upfront
cost of developing their own solution. Many are thus left behind.
Enterprise API is an innovative cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) product that will
allow organisations to expose a third party API to their content in a controlled, exploitable
manner, without incurring significant up-front infrastructure costs. This will open doors for
the growing number of companies that will participate in this new marketplace.
Leveraging Release Consulting's deep experience of working with large media companies,
Enterprise API will build a unique solution serving this very demanding market both from a
technological and a commercial perspective. Content owners such as record publishers, book
publishers and retailers have been lined up for collaboration as primary users.
In addition, this solution responds in a powerful way to the recent Hargreaves IP report's
recommendation that private companies need to build a "digital copyright exchange" to help
reform the Intellectual Property landscape in the UK and internationally.
The benefits of this project are three-fold: first, it opens up new monetisation strategies for
content-owners to exploit their content; secondly, it provides a key, enabling component of the
future internet landscape, where data increasingly flows from business to business rather than
directly to consumers. Finally, it dramatically lowers costs for new entrants in the content
production industries, thus encouraging a boom in third party content-based applications
