As part of the Staff Support Strategy for the HQ Efficiency Initiative (HQEI), a Staff Support Unit (SSU) was established in May 2022 to serve as a direct central resource for staff ahead of and during the transition of functions. SSU’s mandate further expanded in 2025 precipitated by the executive order by the US President suspending US Grants causing significant economic disruption across multiple sectors with immediate stop-work orders and comprehensive global reviews. This was then compounded by the launch of the Future Focus Initiative (FFI) in March 2025, amid the context of declining international assistance and UNICEF’s global effort to remain fit for purpose by identifying strategic shifts and cutting costs to further enhance effectiveness, efficiency, agility and overall readiness. The rapidly evolving situation demanded specialized expertise to navigate complex transitions, reallocation of resources, and potential restructuring. SSU moved from supporting the 2 HQs (New York and Geneva) to supporting UNICEF globally. The HR Business Process consultant will be in UNICEF New York Headquarters (NYHQ), in the Division of People and Culture (DPC), within the SSU and will report to the Human Resources Manager, SSU. Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, SSU and guidance of the Human Resources Officer, the HR Business Process consultant provides administrative, financial, procedural and operational support and assistance to the SSU, ensuring consistency and a people-centric approach in the support and services provided across all Divisions.
