Descrizione
In this project, we will probe the dynamics of atypical quantum states that are thermodynamically rare in macroscopic systems, but hold non-trivial and invaluable quantum information. These states retain robust quantum memory, which are typically not accessible with usual theoretical and experimental protocols in place. We propose the use of a special toolbox of local projection observables that can easily squeeze out such information from rare states and at the same time, are also straight-forward to realize in quantum gas microscopes.
Using local projectors to atypical states, we will gain direct experimental and numerical access to important thermodynamic quantities like entropy, quantum correlations, and entanglement growth in a scalable way. We will show that this is feasible already using present day experimental setups. This in itself will be a major advancement of the current state of the art for many-body quantum simulators.
Mining hidden information in rare events, we will further study the dynamical emergence of magnetic excitations connected to high temperature superconductivity in cuprates. Using the special toolkit we will gain access to the dynamics of these excitations and the unique trail they leave behind while moving through the system. Studying them in real space and time will offer novel insight into the interplay of anti-ferromagnetism and high-temperature superconductivity.
