The National Science Foundation (NSF), NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program (EGFP) supports EGFP designated institutions/programs in EPSCoR jurisdictions by providing funding for graduate fellowships for eligible applicants. Institutions receive a total of three years of stipend and associated cost-of-education (COE) allowance for each NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellow.
This award at Mississippi State University seeks to enhance research competitiveness and capacity through an investment in talent development. Fellow research topics will align with goals and programs supported by the NSF Directorate for Engineering (ENG). Research topics and activities will train Fellows while advancing methods for analyzing dynamic multiphysics systems and subsystem-integration problems. The program will support five qualified graduate Fellows from Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Civil, Ocean, and Computational Engineering backgrounds. The program aims for disciplinary breadth while selection remains based on Fellow qualifications, skills, potential, and research interests. This work will support more reliable and durable engineering systems, reduce development cost and risk, strengthen STEM workforce development, prepare Fellows for academic, teaching, advanced research, and industrial research-and-development careers, expand EPSCoR capacity, and enhance U.S. competitiveness in energy, environmental, aerospace, maritime, offshore, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
