For every child, the right to Care UNICEF has been working in Cameroon since 1975 to allow women and children to fully realize their rights to development without restriction, as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF provides financial and technical support to Cameroon across seven areas to fully realize the rights of women and children. These areas include Health, HIV/AIDS, Water-sanitation-Hygiene, nutrition, education, child protection, and social inclusion. UNICEF focuses mainly on children and the most vulnerable and excluded families. Cameroon’s 2020 population is estimated at 26,545,863 people according to UN data. The population is young and generates strong socioeconomic demand. In rural areas, limited access to basic social services and the effects of climate change lead to household impoverishment and severe child deprivations. The task is immense but not insurmountable; it requires the energy of all stakeholders in Cameroon and outside of Cameroon: also, women, men, youth and children, government, technical and financial partners, donors, civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, and communities. The objective of the internship is to provide temporary operational support to the Administration and Finance section for year-end inventory, records management and archive-related activities, while offering the intern practical exposure to UNICEF administrative processes, internal controls and document management standards. Support inventory, classification, indexing, filing, digitization and preparation of documentation for the approved archive disposal process. Assist with preparation of count sheets, location lists, verification documents, reconciliation trackers and PSB-related supporting files. Perform data entry, compile supporting documents, prepare simple trackers and support logistical arrangements for inventory and archive activities. Assist with the compilation, filing and tracking of finance-related supporting documents, including payment files, reconciliation documents, expenditure records and other documents required for review and follow-up by responsible finance staff. To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have Minimum requirements: Education: Be enrolled in a degree programme, graduate school, or be a recent university graduate (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or higher) in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Public Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Language Requirements: Fluency in English or French is required excellent. Desirables: Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts. (This criteria is essential as a desirable and should be included in all job postings.) Be at least 18 years old Have no immediate family members (father, mother, brother or sister) working in any UNICEF office Have an excellent academic record, demonstrated through recent academic or institutional documents Previous professional experience is considered a strong asset Have knowledge of spreadsheets (advanced Excel functions, etc.) Have never previously completed an internship with the UNICEF Cameroon office; Meet UNICEF’s child safeguarding standards.
