Sustainable Procurement Supporting environmentally responsible purchasing and strengthening partnerships that advance Penn’s sustainability goals. Procurement Welcome to Sustainable Procurement Procurement Services partners with Penn Sustainability , suppliers, and the Penn community to promote environmentally responsible purchasing and build more sustainable supply chains. In support of Penn’s Climate Action Plan (4.0) , we help identify and promote products, services, and purchasing practices that reduce environmental impact while supporting the University’s mission. As a member of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council , Procurement Services works with industry leaders to advance sustainable purchasing practices and bring recognized standards and innovative solutions to the Penn community. The Council’s programs help institutional purchasers to prioritize opportunities to influence the socioeconomic and environmental impact of purchased goods and services, identify existing leadership standards and approaches that address these priorities, benchmark progress toward goals, and receive recognition for advancement. Procurement Services helps drive sustainability in Penn’s supply chain by: Identifying, enabling, and promoting green product solutions Working with suppliers to implement green solutions Recognizing green purchasing champions in the Penn community Tracking the impact of the Climate and Sustainability Action Plan Procurement Goals Procurement Services also lives green. Its suite maintains Level 4 Green Office Certification, and the organization continually strives to implement efficient, electronic processes, thus removing paper from daily purchasing transactions. Sustainability at Penn Working together for a sustainable future. Procurement Services works closely with the University’s Schools and Centers to support the University’s Climate Action Plan 2.0. Listed below are programs and organizations at Penn, which help advance the University’s sustainability impact: Penn Sustainability Formerly the Green Campus Partnership which was formed in 2007 to address environmental sustainability planning and policy development at the University of Pennsylvania and to coordinate programs and initiatives for a more sustainable campus. The GCP includes Facilities & Real Estate Services, Business Services, the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee (ESAC) as well as faculty and student groups, including the Student Sustainability Association at Penn. Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee The Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee (ESAC) is a cross-campus collaboration that includes a representative group of faculty, staff, and students who advise the President on environmental sustainability issues.
