UNICEF Armenia Country Office is looking for a motivated climate change and emergency professional with experience in developing and managing programmes related to climate change, disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness and response, with a strong understanding of the national context. The role will lead and contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring and coordination of evidence-based and sustainable climate, disaster risk reduction and emergency programmes in Armenia. It will provide technical guidance and strategic support to strengthen climate resilience, reduce risks to children and communities, enhance emergency preparedness and response, and promote child-sensitive approaches in climate change and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes. Working under the general guidance of the Deputy Representative, the role will collaborate closely with relevant sectoral and cross-sectoral colleagues, government counterparts and other partners. The purpose of this position is two-fold: leading DRR programming and coordinating the climate change portfolio, which is also mainstreamed throughout the country programme. The focus will be on addressing climate and environment-related risks to children, supporting evidence-based policy development and advocacy for risk mitigation, and supporting climate finance efforts to enable adequate national investments in climate change adaptation and mitigation. Supporting senior management and the CO in coordination of the residual emergency response efforts as well as leading on emergency preparedness and humanitarian-development-peace nexus efforts, considering relevant risk scenarios. Work Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant professional work experience in programme/project development, planning, implementation, and monitoring is required. Skills: Field work experience and experience in climate change, disaster risk reduction, emergency response/preparedness or closely related topics is required. Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Armenian is required. Desirables: Knowledge of Russian or another official UN language is an asset. Knowledge and familiarity with Child Rights is a distinct asset. Experience within UNICEF or the broader UN system is desirable. Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is an asset. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
