How to check if a job offer is a scam UN Fraud Details UNICEF works in Yambio, South Sudan to protect and promote the rights of every child, with a focus on reaching the most vulnerable children, adolescents, families and communities affected by conflict, displacement, disease outbreaks, food insecurity, climate-related shocks and other humanitarian emergencies. UNICEF supports the Government of South Sudan and partners to deliver integrated programmes in health, nutrition, WASH, education, child protection, social policy, and social and behaviour change. This UNV assignment is part of UNICEF South Sudan’s emergency preparedness and response work, supporting risk communication and community engagement, social listening, accountability to affected populations, rumour management, and community-led behaviour change interventions. The assignment will contribute to timely, evidence-informed and inclusive SBC support for emergency response priorities, including disease outbreaks, population displacement, floods and other humanitarian shocks, in close collaboration with government counterparts, UN agencies, civil society organizations, community structures, youth and women’s groups, and affected populations. Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief of Social and Behaviour Change or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV (United Nations Volunteers) Social and Behaviour Change Officer for Emergency Response will: • Support the design, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of Social and Behaviour Change, Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) interventions for emergency preparedness and response, including disease outbreaks, floods, displacement, and other humanitarian situations. • Provide technical support to emergency response teams and field offices to ensure community engagement approaches are evidence-based, participatory, inclusive, conflict-sensitive, and aligned with UNICEF standards and government priorities. • Coordinate with partners for the design, development, collection, analysis, and use of behavioural evidence including community feedback, rumours, questions, perceptions, and social listening data to inform programme decisions, messaging, service delivery, and response planning. • Develop and adapt evidence-based emergency communication materials, key messages, community engagement tools, facilitation guides, and partner briefs in collaboration with technical sectors, government counterparts, and implementing partners. • Support the activation and strengthening of community engagement platforms and networks, including community mobilizers, religious leaders, youth groups, women’s groups, local authorities, schools, health facilities, and other trusted community structures. • Contribute to emergency preparedness plans, contingency plans, rapid assessments, response strategies, after-action reviews, and situation reports by providing SBC insights and community feedback inputs. • Facilitate capacity development for UNICEF staff, government counterparts, implementing partners, and community actors on Social and Behaviour Change in emergencies, Risk Communication and Community Engagement, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), interpersonal communication, rumour tracking, social listening, and community feedback mechanisms. • Support monitoring, reporting, and documentation of Social and Behaviour Change and Accountability to Affected Populations in emergency response results, lessons learned, human-interest stories, field updates, and good practices. • Perform any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance, in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Provide annual and end-of-assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results, and opportunities. • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the u
